Michigan Home Help services — planned for launch.

Michigan Home Help covers hands-on assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and assistance with certain Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs). OCD will provide only services authorized for each client after agency approval.

How Michigan Home Help Works

Home Help begins with MDHHS assessment and authorization.

Home Help is an MDHHS program for eligible Medicaid beneficiaries who need hands-on help with at least one Activity of Daily Living. An MDHHS Adult Services Worker determines eligibility and the services that may be authorized.

The individual or someone acting on their behalf can request a Home Help referral through the local MDHHS office.

Complete the Home Help Assessment
An Adult Services Worker completes a comprehensive assessment and determines eligibility and authorized tasks.

Choose an Eligible Provider
Home Help beneficiaries may choose an eligible individual caregiver or an approved agency provider. OCD can serve as an agency option only after MDHHS agency approval.

Agency Authorization Before Service
When an agency is selected, the Adult Services Worker must complete the required meeting with the client and agency representative or assigned caregiver before agency payments can be authorized.

Is OCD Care Group already approved as a Michigan Home Help Agency Provider?

No. OCD Care Group is completing the Michigan Home Help agency enrollment and approval process. We will not advertise ourselves as an approved Home Help agency, bill Home Help, or begin agency Home Help services until MDHHS approval is received.

What is Michigan Home Help?

Home Help is administered by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). It provides personal care services for eligible individuals who need hands-on assistance with Activities of Daily Living and may also authorize assistance with certain Instrumental Activities of Daily Living.

What types of tasks can Home Help cover?

Home Help may cover authorized ADLs such as bathing, dressing, eating, grooming, mobility, toileting, and transferring. Authorized IADLs may include light housework, laundry, taking medication, meal preparation and cleanup, and shopping for food and medication.

What does Home Help not cover?

MDHHS lists heavy housework, home repairs, prompting or reminding someone to complete a task, supervision, transportation, and yard work as services not covered by Home Help.

How does someone apply for Home Help?

A Home Help referral may be made to the local MDHHS office. An Adult Services Worker completes a home assessment to determine eligibility, assessed needs, and authorized services.

Can a Home Help beneficiary choose a caregiver?

Michigan Home Help allows a beneficiary to choose an eligible individual caregiver or an approved agency provider. Provider enrollment and program rules still apply.

Can OCD start my Michigan Home Help services now?

Not yet. OCD Care Group can provide Michigan Home Help agency services only after MDHHS approves the agency and the individual client has the required Home Help authorization.

What part of Michigan will OCD serve?

OCD Care Group's initial Michigan service area will be finalized as part of launch planning and agency enrollment. Tell us your county in the Michigan Interest Form and we can keep it with your pre-launch inquiry.
